WHAT IS A NATIVE AMERICAN POW WOW
A pow wow is the Native American people's
way of meeting new friends, and renewing old friendships.
To join together in dancing and singing.
we in the UK and Europe attend pow wows
out of respect for the Native American culture.
The M.C. keeps the event running with the help
of the Arena Director.
Between them things should run smoothly,
in bringing the people together In dance and
fellowship in the circle.
POW WOW ETIQUETTE.
The M.C. (master of ceremonies) coordinates the pow wow.
He will advise the dancers and the visitors of
additional protocol.
The visitors are asked to show respect
for the event.
Please do not refer to the dancer's REGALIA
as a costume;their regalia may also be called,
their Outfit.
Please use courtesy and respect when
taking PHOTOGRAPHS,
taking pictures of the dancers during an Inter-tribal
or none Honouring song is permitted.
If you would like to photograph someone in regalia
outside of the arena, please ask their permission,
It is only polite to do so.
The arena will be Blessed before the Pow wow,
after which it is forbidden to enter the dance arena
until the Pow wow starts.
Guests will be allowed into the arena when the
M.C. invites them
Please do not cross the arena just to get to
the other side.
GRAND ENTRY.
The M.C.will announce the beginning of the
Grand entry, and ask everyone,(that is able) to stand,
and ask the gentlemen (not in regalia) to remove their hats.
The flags lead by the Native American Eagle Staff.
Will be brought into the dance arena.
You should remain standing during the Flag song,
and the Veterans song.
The M.C. will ask you to remain standing for an
Invocation (a short prayer).
The same is asked for the closing song and Retreat.
When the Eagle Staff,and Flags are taken out of the arena.
NO ALCOHOL OR DRUGS ARE PERMITTED AT POW WOW'S

Please give Respect to the Dancers and Singing Teams.
Treat the Elders with Respect and Kindness.
Look out for any Children around the POW WOW site.
FINALLY,HAVE A GOOD TIME!
Above anything else,Native American Pow Wow's
are social events.
A time to see old friends and make new ones.
Don't be afraid to ask questions and engage in conversation
with vendors,dancers,and singers.
